The Outer Worlds is a new single-player sci-fi first-person role-playing game developed by Obsidian Entertainment and published by Private Division.
In The Outer Worlds, you awaken from hibernation on a colonist ship that went missing while en route to Halcyon, Earth's furthest colony at the edge of the galaxy, only to find yourself embroiled in a complex conspiracy that threatens to destroy it.
As you explore the farthest reaches of space and encounter different factions, all vying for power, you can develop your character and direct a story that is entirely dependent on your decisions. In the equation that the companies have planned for the colony, you are the unforeseen variable. A role-playing game with a dynamic plot: in the best Obsidian tradition, your approach to The Outer Worlds is entirely up to you.
Your choices not only affect the main plot but also your character's traits, the stories of your companions, and the grand finale. Your flaws make you great: one of the innovations introduced by The Outer Worlds is the flaw mechanism. An interesting hero is also defined by the flaws that distinguish them.
During the course of The Outer Worlds, the system will take into account the things you're not particularly good at. Do Raptidons keep attacking you? Accepting the Raptiphobia flaw will penalize you when facing those fearsome creatures, but it will allow you to immediately gain an extra positive trait. This optional system allows you to define your character more precisely as you explore Halcyon.
Lead your companions: during your wanderings in the farthest colony, you will meet a series of characters who want to join your crew. Equipped with unique skills, these companions all have their own personal mission, motivations, and ideals. It's up to you to help them achieve their goals or exploit them for your own ends. Explore the corporate colony: Halcyon is a colony at the edge of the galaxy that belongs to and is managed by a group of companies.
Companies control everything... except the alien monsters they left behind when the terraforming of two planets didn't go exactly as planned.
Find your ship, assemble a crew, and explore the settlements, space stations, and other interesting locations in Halcyon.
