If this simple phrase, this evocative narrative opening, is able to arouse a mixture of emotions ranging from nostalgia to excitement in millions of people around the world, the credit is entirely due to a distinguished gentleman named George Lucas.
A director, but first and foremost a dreamer with a fervent imagination, in 1977 he decided to involve anyone ready to share with him stories of duels in space, breathtaking spaceship chases, and wonders that can freely come to life and become real in the context of the "galaxy far, far away," thanks to the power of his rampant imagination. This is how the world's most famous science fiction saga began: Star Wars began.
Almost 50 years after the big-screen debut of legendary characters like Leia and Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and of course one of history's most iconic villains, Darth Vader, the Star Wars saga is not only far from over: it is in the midst of its expansion! Other stories have been told by Lucas, but also by many other enthusiasts eager to inherit part of his legacy and enrich the galaxy far, far away with new planets, inhabitants, villains, and heroes.
A galaxy with no limits
Star Wars: Unlimited, the new collectible card game from Fantasy Flight Games, is the latest addition to these new stories and has decided to start by returning to the origins, to the very first trilogy that was the great gamble of the father of Star Wars and started the mass phenomenon that the franchise is today.
The first set of this new TCG in fact revolves around the characters of the so-called "original trilogy", accompanied in this new chapter of the saga by two other titles that in more recent times have contributed to the ever-growing success of Star Wars: the film Rogue One and the animated series Star Wars: Rebels.
The first spark ignites
Spark of Rebellion is the debut set for Star Wars: Unlimited and immediately announces the game's intent to value both souls that represent the identity of any collectible card game.
Fantasy Flight indeed brings all its experience to bear in offering exciting and satisfying game sessions, enhanced by simple but engaging gameplay: the game is ready from the start to support all the most popular formats for collectible card game players. From Constructed, based on decks artfully created to revolve around the Leader, an iconic character from the franchise that serves as the heart of the deck, to Sealed and Draft, which instead require adaptability in arranging a deck by improvising with what is available.
On the other hand, however, it offers the many fans of the franchise a valuable collection in which to appreciate never-before-seen illustrations and special card treatments that are breathtaking. Alongside the classic rarity scale (Common, Uncommon, Rare, Legendary), Star Wars: Unlimited in fact features special versions of cards that are already promising to be memorable:
