Spectrum HIPS-X 1.75mm DEEP BLACK 1kg (RAL 9017)
Spectrum HIPS-X (High Impact Polystyrene X) filament has many of the same characteristics as ABS, but in comparison, it shows superior hardness and impact resistance.
High Impact Resistance
Spectrum HIPS–X is a support material designed for additive manufacturing for FDM/FFF technology. It is typically used as a support for components made with ABS, where the HIPS-X supports are D–Limonene dissolved at the end of the manufacturing process. In addition, you can use Spectrum HIPS–X as a base material for the production of components that require reduced processing shrinkage compared to ABS.
Spectrum HIPS-X shows high impact and compression resistance. It also allows for obtaining matte surfaces with reduced layer visibility. Just like ABS, HIPS-X allows for mechanical treatments such as grinding, turning, milling, etc. The low hardness of the printed items simplifies the separation of material sections with sharp tools.
Key Features:
- improved aesthetic qualities with matte surfaces of printed items
- lower shrinkage rate compared to classic ABS
- possibility of mechanical treatment (drilling, turning, milling or grinding)
- thermal resistance – HDT B 88°C
- Vicat softening temperature - 96°C
- high impact resistance
- energy absorption and dissipation capability
- good for large prints
- lightweight
- fully soluble in D-Limonene
- matte surface
Applications:
- support material for ABS
- industrial applications requiring impact-resistant components or components with partial energy dissipation capability
- concept and demonstrative prototyping of finished and semi-finished designed products
- packaging
Mainly used as a support material, Spectrum HIPS–X is also designed for industrial applications requiring impact-resistant components or components with a partial energy dissipation capacity. Thanks to its low hardness, HIPS–X can be used in arts, particularly in sculpture.
Packaging
The filament is wound on a neat, transparent spool. Each spool contains information about the material type, diameter, and recommended printing temperature. The filament is vacuum-packed with a moisture absorber. The entire product is packaged in the original, film-coated Spectrum Filaments packaging.
