Available in Italy from September 16, 2016, the new slimmer and lighter PlayStation®4 (PS4™) system (CUH-2000 series) has a 30% smaller volume than previous models and a 25% lower weight than the original model (CUH-1000 series) and 16% lower than the second model (CUH-1200 series). The new PS4 system is also more energy-efficient, as electricity consumption has been cut by more than 34% compared to the original model and 28% compared to the second model.
Looking ahead to the future of display technology, all PS4 systems, including the new slimmer model, will support (via system software update) High Dynamic Range (HDR) technology*, which allows for better reproduction of lights and shadows and offers a much wider range of colors. Owners of an HDR-compatible TV will be able to enjoy games and other content supported by more realistic, extraordinarily vivid, and truer-to-life images, reflecting how the human eye actually perceives the world.
*All PS4 models will support HDR via a system software update.
