Sonoff Pow R3 is the new device designed to function as a single-phase smart WiFi switch and consumption meter for your home.
Its main features are as follows:
Maximum output power 25 A / 5500 W: Sonoff Pow R3 can, for example, make your high-power appliances smart, such as an induction hob, or function as a single-phase WiFi energy meter for your entire home.
Energy consumption measurement: you can monitor active power, current, and voltage absorbed by your appliances via the eWeLink app; a history of up to 100 days is kept with the possibility of downloading in CSV format.
Overload protection: in case of a detected anomaly, power will be cut off to prevent damage and danger to the device.
Remote on and off: you can manage power wherever you are, ensuring the safety of your appliances and saving on your electricity bill: thanks to compatibility with Alexa and Google Home, you can also control switching on and off with your voice.
Another very important feature is that the output contact is normally closed: this means that in the absence of power or device failure, the operation of downstream loads is still guaranteed. Finally, the device benefits from eWeLink's new native integration with Home Assistant to allow you to create unified dashboards to view the consumption of various appliances.
Just by looking at the dimensions of 162×122×46 mm and the construction characteristics, it is immediately clear how it was designed to manage high loads with installation inside an electrical panel with a DIN rail. In particular, observing the device's connection terminals, it can be noted that they are generously sized to accommodate electrical cables of the necessary cross-section (4 mm2) to support such important loads (25 A).
The device's electrical wiring diagram is rather elementary: the smart device must be placed downstream of the residual current circuit breaker to ensure safety. Connection cables of sufficient cross-section must be used for the managed load, as these are important loads and appliances.
