PrimaSELECT Polyphenylsulfone (PPSU) – High-performance amorphous thermoplastic, improved impact and chemical resistance compared to PEI
PrimaSELECT Polyphenylsulfone (PPSU) is a high-performance amorphous thermoplastic material offering improved impact and chemical resistance compared to PEI. PPSU can be used at temperatures up to 180 Cᵒ. Compared to other amorphous thermoplastics, PPSU has superior hydrolysis resistance. Measured in steam autoclave cycles, it is virtually indefinitely steam sterilizable. It is also resistant to common acids and bases over a wide temperature range.
PrimaSELECT™ PPSU Polyphenylsulfone (PPSU) material properties:
- Improved impact and chemical resistance compared to PEI
- Superior hydrolysis resistance
- Virtually unlimited steam sterilizability
- Resistant to acids and bases over a wide temperature range
- Applications in aerospace, automotive, dental, and other medical applications
PPSU filament meets medical applications and European standards
The PPSU filament produced by PrimaCreator meets the ISO10993 standard for medical applications and complies with European regulations EC No 1935/2004, EC No 2023/2006, and EC No 10/2011 on plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with food, and also complies with the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) for food contact. The colorants used by PrimaCreator to color the filament also comply with these European regulations.
Applications of Polyphenylsulfone (PPSU):
- Aerospace
- Automotive industry
- Dentistry
- Medical and surgical instruments
The highest quality standards in PPSU production
PrimaCreator PPSU filament has unique properties because it does not come into contact with water during the production process and is packaged directly in a vacuum-sealed bag. These material properties make PrimaCreator PPSU filament particularly suitable for use in FDM and FFF 3D printers. The material has excellent layer adhesion, which leads to a great improvement in impact strength, toughness, and durability. It ensures a simple 3D printing process. The PPSU filament is based on Solvay technology.
For successful PPSU 3D printing, these things need to be considered
The 3D printer must have the capability to print PPSU filament and should be 3D printed with a nozzle temperature of 360 - 400 °C. The heated bed should be set to 140 °C or higher. A heated build chamber is extremely important. It is also important that the 3D printer is in a room where there are almost no drafts and temperature fluctuations.
PPSU is 3D printed on a PEI sheet at a print speed of 15-30 mm/s.
