Scavenger economy: Pickpocket enemies, loot lockers, scour trash cans to acquire resources. Trade them at vending machines to get items that give you more freedom of action in how you choose to overcome the game's many challenges.
Crafting: use salvaged resources and vending machine items to craft items to use as weapons or tools against characters and obstacles.
