PLA Strongman™ Black filament, is as strong as ABS filament, but has the functional characteristics of normal PLA. Strongman filament was developed because printing with ABS filament is more difficult. Compared to conventional PLA filament, PLA Strongman is much more resistant, especially to impacts. It is used for printing drones, bearings and all products that require greater strength. In the video, you can see the resistance test of normal PLA filament and PLA Strongman, where a half-kilogram weight was used. The result is that the normal PLA filament broke, while the PLA Strongman remained unchanged. Regarding heat resistance, this filament has the same characteristics as normal PLA filament.
To achieve good results, it is necessary to print at a temperature of 200–230°C and the bed should be heated to 50-60°C. Note that the printing temperature range may differ slightly depending on the type of printer used.
The Strongman filament has a net weight of 1 kg (2.2 lbs) on a spool with an outer diameter of 210 mm, an inner diameter of 60 mm and a width of 62 mm. The filament is vacuum-sealed and contains a moisture-absorbing sachet that keeps the filament dry. The PLA filament thickness is 1.75 mm or 2.85 mm.
