The story of DRAGON QUEST I:
Thanks to the heroic efforts of the legendary Erdrick, the Archfiend has been defeated, and peace has returned to the lands of Alefgard. However, this period of serenity is not destined to last, because the wicked Dragonlord has returned and unleashed hordes of monsters against humans once again! Now it's up to you, descendant of Erdrick, to defeat the enemy and free the world from this terrifying threat!

The story of DRAGON QUEST II:
Many years have passed since Alefgard was saved by the hero, who thus earned the same title as his illustrious ancestor. In Alefgard, three new Kingdoms have arisen, founded by the new "Erdrick" and his descendants. However, darkness has returned to loom menacingly, and an army of ferocious monsters has invaded the world once again. The only barrier between the forces of evil and their wicked ambitions is a group of young Princesses and Princes, all belonging to Erdrick's lineage. The time has come for these brave individuals to embark on a quest that will make their legendary ancestor proud!
