Brigandine: The Legend of Runersia brings together six nations under one roof, all vying for absolute power over Runersia, a continent blessed with mana and its benefits. Each of these nations, identified as peoples of various cultures and ideologies, will fight for dominance, conquering every inch of these vast lands. Each faction is characterized by unique stories and characters, which the game develops through a modest campaign mode where each side can be played. This allows players to experience the conflict from multiple perspectives. The story is layered with many details, such as the backstories involving the heroes of each nation or the epilogue of each defeated faction, offering the opportunity to delve into every narrative aspect of the game in a truly meticulous way.
However, during our playthrough on PlayStation 4, the enjoyment of this narrative cycle was marred by various errors related to the playback of cutscenes and dialogues. In fact, what were splendid artworks and illustrations to admire on Switch were often obscured by an excessive, erroneous zoom on close-ups, while the texts were cut off almost halfway, preventing us from clearly understanding the conversations held by the various characters involved. Nevertheless, we trust in the eventual corrective update to be released around the official launch, which will ensure a better understanding of the game's script.
