Rock powder is a dehydrating product, as it covers the plant with a film that counteracts the thermal effect, substantially reducing the wetting period of plant surfaces. The product also has an indirect physical effect on the development of phytophagous insects and fungal diseases.

After treatment, a thin layer of white mineral particles forms on the plants, which acts as protection and defense against some insects, so it is important to cover all vegetation with the treatment.

Treatment with Kaolin forms a thin layer of white mineral particles on the olive tree's vegetation, which appears coated with a "dusty" covering.
The fly does not lay eggs on olives covered with kaolin.
It is essential to ensure complete, uniform, and continuous coverage.
After treatment, the plant's leaf surface takes on an off-white color; when the foliage dries and loses its white color, it's time to repeat the treatment.
It is possible to mix a copper product with Kaolin, to be added after the Kaolin has dissolved.
On olive trees, it hinders the spread of Homalodisca vitripennis (Wikipedia), a vector of Xylella fastidiosa (Wikipedia), the bacterium responsible for Olive Quick Decline Syndrome (CoDiRO). It is effective in preventing olive scab, the olive moth, Prays oleae, and the olive scale, Saissetia oleae. It improves oil quality by increasing its chlorophyll and carotenoid content.
On vines, it hinders infestation by the spotted-wing drosophila, Drosophila suzukii (Wikipedia), and the grape berry moth, Lobesia botrana (Wikipedia).
It reduces water stress, leaf scorching, and improves the quality of grapes and wine by increasing polyphenol content and total grape acidity.

Natural kaolin is a sedimentary rock consisting mainly of kaolinite, an earthy and rather soft aluminum silicate clay, and is produced by the action of meteoric water on feldspar.
Kaolin is used in numerous human activities, from construction to the production of ceramics and porcelain, and also in the medical field. Depending on the field of operation, commercial products vary because the properties and degree of purity differ.
The characteristics of our formulation are:
- high micronization with particles smaller than 2 µm, so that it can be easily sprayed and adhere to the plant, creating a film if possible;
- the film does not interfere with gas exchange and transmits photosynthetically active radiation while reducing ultraviolet and infrared radiation, but it interferes with and hinders insect activity;
- it does not create difficulties on the harvested product, as it is easily removed
It is very useful in combating the olive fruit fly and fruit flies in general and in reducing fruitlet drop.
Kaolin (white clay) is used in viticulture and horticulture (tomatoes) for protecting grape clusters and fruits from sunburn, which is common in these crops.
Once applied to the vegetation, it has the property of reflecting sunlight and offers a very high level of protection, reducing sunburn by up to 50-70%. By reflecting infrared rays, it lowers the plant's temperature and improves chlorophyll photosynthesis, creating more luxuriant vegetation. The product is finely micronized, preventing possible abrasion to equipment, making it suitable for all types of sprayers; it can be mixed with most plant protection products used in agriculture, although it is recommended not to use it with copper-based products as it reduces the shielding effect.
In case of mixing, dissolve it in water first and apply at a dose of 2-3 kg per hectoliter.
The uniformity of distribution on the vegetation is more important than the layers of application. Treated plants have a whitish-milky leaf surface, but it is easily washed off after heavy rainfall.
Application, under normal conditions, is recommended on sunny days with strong irradiation, or after summer pruning. The treatment can be repeated several times, especially when the whitish coloration on the vegetation diminishes.
In addition to providing protection from sunburn, kaolin has a collateral effect of reducing the population of the olive fruit fly, the vine leafhopper in the presence of thrips (in this case, intervention should start in mid-flowering).
Repeated treatments have a refreshing, antitranspirant, and strengthening effect on the leaf cuticle to protect plants from heat stress and sunburn. It also has the characteristic of depositing on treated surfaces as a thin protective film, thus counteracting pests like the fruit fly from laying eggs on fruits. The product should be applied preventively, i.e., before egg-laying begins (typically in July-August), and the treatment should be repeated monthly (September-October, and if the fly infestation remains high and harvest is not imminent, also November).
The use of kaolin is permitted in organic farming.
It is also effective against the walnut husk fly and fruit flies, and it is worth noting that kaolin has also been shown to be effective against two other pests: the pear psylla and the chestnut gall wasp.

Mixing instructions:
Do not dissolve the product directly in the exact amount of water, but prepare a paste with a small amount of water and then gradually mix it with the remaining water (dose per litre).
