amiibo figures offer a completely new and innovative way to interact with your favorite Nintendo characters and games.
These figures have a special built-in chip that utilizes NFC communication technology.
By touching the figure to the NFC sensor on the Wii U GamePad, New Nintendo 3DS, New Nintendo 3DS XL, or the NFC reader/writer accessory* (for other Nintendo 3DS family consoles) while playing certain games, data on the chip will be automatically transferred to the game, allowing the character to appear on screen, for example.
